Uncovering the Best of Cebu's Beaches, Falls, and Whale Shark Experience

Our trip to to Cebu started with touring Cebu city. You can read about it here:

After exploring the city however we would like to welcome you to our adrenaline-packed adventure in Cebu, where in just one day, we dove into the wonders of the sea, and explored one of the islands most magnificent waterfall! Buckle up as we embark on a whirlwind tour of Oslob, Sumilon, and Kawasan, promising an unforgettable journey through some of Cebu's most captivating destinations.

Oslob Whale Shark Experience

Early Start:

We had a really had an early start because the site was about 2-3 hours from our hotel. Despite the distance, every curve and bend in the road offers picturesque landscapes, making the journey an experience in itself. Trust me, the views are worth the drive! But not everyone was up for the drive as my mom and my sister mostly slept.

Guided Experience:

For those new to this experience, fret not. Trained guides are on hand to ensure a safe and respectful interaction with the whale sharks. They provide essential guidelines on maintaining a safe distance, minimizing disturbance, and respecting the natural habitat of these majestic creatures.

The Encounter:

Imagine slipping into the clear, azure waters off the coast of Oslob and coming eye-to-eye with these gentle giants. The Oslob whale sharks, known as butanding locally, are the largest fish in the sea, and swimming beside them feels like entering another world altogether. We were brought by a small boat farther out into the sea so we can see the whale sharks. It was a bit of a nerve wracking experience because the waves were strong because of the storms

Awe-Inspiring Proximity:

When we first saw them it is truly an experience, the sheer size of these creatures is awe-inspiring. As you swim alongside them, you'll be struck by their immense size, yet surprised by their gentle and serene movements. Observing their patterned skin and the vastness of their mouths as they filter-feed is an experience that leaves an indelible mark. The ones that we had encountered we were told were just babies yet still they were huge.

Photographic Souvenirs:

The experience of swimming with whale sharks is not just a memory but also a fantastic photo opportunity. Capturing these moments with the whale sharks in their natural habitat is an unparalleled souvenir, a visual testament to an unforgettable encounter with nature's wonders. Of course Kevin and my sisters are the dare devils who'd go in without vests

Emotional Impact:

The emotions evoked during this encounter are hard to put into words. From the initial excitement to the profound sense of awe and respect, swimming with the Oslob whale sharks is an experience that leaves a lasting impression, fostering a deep appreciation for the beauty and vulnerability of marine life. It is truly a more deep experience seeing these gentle giants in their natural habitats vs the aquariums in different parts of the world

Final Thoughts:

Swimming with the Oslob whale sharks is more than just a thrilling adventure; it's a chance to connect with nature in its purest form. The opportunity to share the same waters as these gentle giants is a humbling and awe-inspiring experience, leaving an imprint that extends beyond the duration of the swim, a memory that resonates long after you've left the shores of Oslob.

Sumilon Sandbar Island Hopping

As we approach Sumilon Island by boat, we first glimpse of the sandbar leaves you in awe. A slender strip of white sand emerges like a ribbon in the turquoise sea, inviting you to step into a postcard-perfect scene. The azure waters surrounding the island shimmer under the tropical sun, creating an enchanting sight that's straight out of a dream.

We of course have to take it as a photo op for a jump shot.

For those seeking relaxation, the sandbar offers a chance to soak up the sun and enjoy the quiet and calmness of beach. It was a bit overcast when we visited but we still enjoyed our time visiting the island

From vibrant fish darting around to the occasional sea turtle gliding gracefully, each moment underwater is a spectacle.

Inambakan Falls

After relaxing at the sandbar, our last destination was Inambakan Falls, a hidden gem nestled amidst the lush landscapes of Cebu.

Posing in front of the Inambakan Falls

Tucked away in the heart of Cebu's verdant countryside, Inambakan Falls awaits those seeking a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. A scenic trek through tropical foliage leads you to this natural masterpiece. The journey itself is an adventure, with the sound of rushing water growing louder as you approach the falls.

Feel the rush of the waterfall's spray against your skin as you bask in the rejuvenating experience of being surrounded by nature's elements.
